Why Choosing Film Photography for Your Wedding: A Stunning Glashaus Uckermark Wedding

When it comes to wedding photography, there's something incredibly unique and timeless about shooting on film. Recently, I had the opportunity to capture a wedding at the breathtaking Glashaus in Uckermark, a venue designed by Sigurd Larsson. It was a truly special experience, not just because of the beautiful setting or the lovely, photogenic couple, but also because I photographed the entire event exclusively with analog cameras—something I've been wanting to do for a long time.

Though I’ve incorporated film photography into weddings for years, this was the first time I shot an entire wedding entirely on film. It presented its own set of challenges. For one, you're constantly aware of how many shots you have left on a roll. Changing film mid-event is a delicate dance, especially when you’re switching between multiple cameras, each with its own settings and limitations. There's no instant feedback—no screen to quickly check if you've nailed the shot. Instead, there's a trust in your skill, your equipment, and the process itself. But that's exactly what makes film photography so rewarding.

The imperfections, the grain, the unpredictable light leaks, and the soft, nostalgic tones that film creates are irreplaceable. In this particular wedding, the light flooding through the glasshouse created the most magical highlights and shadows, which were beautifully captured on film. Every shot felt like a piece of art, imperfect yet intimate—each frame telling the story of love and celebration.

For couples considering film photography for their wedding, it's important to know that while it requires a bit more patience and care, the results are worth every effort. Film captures the raw, authentic moments in a way that digital sometimes can't replicate. It's not about perfection, but about emotion, mood, and the story that unfolds throughout the day.

Having photographed weddings for years, we have always loved the charm and character that film photography brings to these moments. Going forward, we’re excited to embrace this style even more, and we hope to book more weddings where we can shoot entirely on film. This recent experience at the Glashaus has reinforced our passion for analog photography, and we look forward to creating more timeless, heartfelt images for our couples in the future.

If you're dreaming of your own wedding in a unique, nature-filled setting like the Glashaus in Uckermark, or simply want your special day immortalized on film, we would be honored to be part of it. Let’s create something timeless together.

A Note for Couples Considering Film Photography

If you're thinking about having your wedding captured on film, it's important to keep in mind that the process requires a little more patience. Unlike digital photography, film requires the photographer to periodically stop and change rolls, and sometimes certain moments might need to be repeated to ensure they’re captured perfectly. This extra time and care are part of the artistry of analog photography. While it may take a bit more effort, the results are undeniably worth it. The unique charm, warmth, and timeless aesthetic that film brings to your wedding photos are unlike anything else, making every shot feel like a cherished piece of art.
